ORRA EVENT Volunteers:
A Regatta is a rowing competition comprised of many competitors representing many programs. A Race is a rowing competition between only a few programs.
Head Race – 5k time trial style competitions occurring in the fall season.
Sprint Race – 1k(masters) and 2k(all others) head to head competitions occurring in the spring and summer seasons.
ORRA is a non-profit (501c3) organization. As such, we count on our Volunteer Team to make our regattas successful. Proceeds from regattas pay our bills and keep costs manageable for our Members and Coached Program participants.
ORRA Regattas are primarily Volunteer planned, organized and managed. The ORRA community (rowers, families, friends, neighbors) comes together to make Regatta Magic happen!
ORRA Workdays: occur before and after events to prepare for and clean up from our Regattas. An example of a project requiring Volunteer Workday help is race course installation and take down. 1.25miles of cable is installed on Melton Lake to make our race course one of the best in the country. This could not happen efficiently without our Volunteers!
Race Day Volunteer Jobs: include Launch Drivers (who follow the races on the water!), Parking Attendants (or the organized welcome committe!), Hospitality, Dock Assistant, Clean Up and many more. Most Volunteer jobs are “learn as you go”.
Volunteer Check-In happens *before* your shift begins in our Volunteer Tent outside the boathouse.
Volunteer Opportunities (as the year goes on, more will be posted):
*If hours DO NOT count toward the 32-hour volunteer commitment, it will be stated in the SignUp Genius description.

ATOMIC BOOSTERS Volunteers:
Atomic Booster parents support juniors during regattas with nutrition, hydration and a place to gather. Atomic Boosters hold fundraising activities to cover meals and defray costs of the higher cost travel regattas.
New parents are needed to join Atomic Boosters! Manning the Atomic Tent, Team Meal prep and SetUp / CleanUp are examples of help needed during Home and Away competitions. Boosters communicate volunteer needs via email before each regatta. All Booster Volunteer roles are “learn as you go”.
