2021 Secret City Head Race

Oak Ridge Rowing Association continues the two-day, two-course Secret City Head Race event in 2021. Hosted the weekend prior to the Head of the Charles Regatta, ORRA will offer a 4,702 meter course on the Melton Lake course, with more than 180-degrees of turns to challenge your endurance AND your steering. Race downstream on Saturday, October 16, a distance of 4702m, following our traditional head race course, and then on Sunday, race a completely different head race course, also 4702 meters, to the same Finish Line, but upstream from a different start location. Sunday’s head race is also quite technical, with two back-to-back 90-degree turns, to port and then starboard. Crews must pay careful attention to the best line to maintain full speed before a straight sprint finish. Register for the Event on Regatta Central. A great way to not only test your HOTC race lineups but also race other events offered. Look for a race schedule to be posted later inthe summer but expect a “normal” schedule similar to 2019 on Saturday, and a modified schedule on Sunday similar to 2020.
